A step across the border between sound and vision
This mind blowing programme of live events and films over 3 nights includes performances that witness film being developed as its projected, visual harmonics, 16mm projectors used as instruments, ‘movement without motion’ and much more besides. Kill Your Timid Notion (KYTN) is one of Europe's leading festivals of sound and image produced by Arika and annually hosted at Dundee Contemporary Arts since 2003. Contemporary Music Network presents an enticing ‘best of’ the past 5 years of KYTN as a touring festival of experimental music and film unlike anything most audiences will have seen or heard before.
KYTN takes audiences on an exploration of the many different ways we can navigate the borders, disparities and similarities between what we hear and what we see. KYTN on tour features some of the great experimental artists, musicians and filmmakers of our time, and some of the not too distant future. Highlights include the daddy of film-as-performance Ken Jacobs, who will give a possibly once in a lifetime, specially commissioned performance of his Nervous Lantern project at awe inspiring spaces such as the IMAX in London. Other performance highlights include Greg Pope’s Light Trap, Paul Sharits Shutter Interface, Bruce McClure and many others.
