A young people's scratch-animation workshop film exhibition.
Animator/Artist and programmer Kari Nygaard is experienced in running workshops for young people in scratch animation - the most simple form of creating moving images in which marks are scored into old 16mm film stock, then projected.
For this project she will be working with schools in the areas on either side of Tollgate House - St Pauls and Easton.
Rod Maclachlan conjures 'Flicker'; an evolving video collage of other-worldly forms and textures created by video sampling from cameras set in micro-sculptural and elemental installations. Base matter such as plants, candles, dust and foodstuffs are melded and mixed with high-end digital black-box alchemy to create televisual transmutation.
Sound manipulator Lovewig captures flicker's sounds using mini-microphones and light sensitive Theremins (Bugbrand TM) and weaves them into a developing soundtrack of deep drones, shimmering tones and sparse structural spaces.
In Flicker you see the process as Rod using light-play, sees dynamism and drama in the small places.
